In this San Antonio SEO blog, I provide you tips and information on how to optimize your website for search engines and what to and what not to look for in SEO experts. Here’s a big tip, search engine optimization is not that hard. You’ll read websites and see mentions of all these fancy words like “meta tags” and “no follow links” with sprinkles of bonuses such as “Analytics”, but this is all stuff that a 5th grader could learn – seriously.
So this is their trick to signing you up. They have to make you believe that San Antonio SEO is harder that it actually is. Really, it’s more of a time factor than it is a learning factor. If website talk seems foreign to you, I promise it really isn’t that big of a deal. Basically, search engine optimization comes down to keyword research and making your site search engine friendly. Basically, you can just buy some SEO Software and it will do the job for you. This is why so many people magically become experts or gurus in Internet marketing.

A common misconception is that you can go from the fifth page of Google (for example) to the first page simply by hiring a search engine optimization firm. This is not true for more competitive keywords. The correct methods of SEO will usually have you start increasing your rank immediately, but obtaining first page rank overnight in a competitive niche shouldn’t be something you are after. While a company may in fact be able to do this, the ranking probably will not last. Google will spot or eventually spot an unnatural increase in your site’s links. This initial surge may push you higher immediately, but the bottom will fall out when your site all of a sudden isn’t popular anymore. The abnormality will raise red flags and you will be summarily dropped in the search engines. The best case scenario after this happens is you apply for reinstatement to Google and they allow your site back in the search. This is not to say SEO takes a year or more. 2 months is sufficient time to accummulate a natural, significant lift in the search engine ranks.
Make sure to ask your company what specifically their plan is. Also, be sure to get specifics from the seo firm on how exactly they plan to maintain your rank in Google search and how active they will be. As I have documented before, many companies charge a maintenance fee yet do nothing to actually maintain your site. Inquire about this.

San Antonio Web Design companies offer a wide range of both talents and prices. The last thing you want to do is pay a very high price for a low quality website. What you don’t know is that there are a handful of so called “San Antonio web designers” that are merely altering existing free templates off the web or are using a web page editor that you could use just as well. Normally, if this was the case, you’d simply be overpaying for something you could be doing yourself but in these instances, a tremendous amount of html or css code is thrown into your website by the automatic design program. This is harmful to your search engine optimization efforts and can increase the difficulty of appearing on the first page of searches. San Antonio web design should be relatively cheap for simple info websites. If you are being charged over $750 for a basic website, you should consult other web designers to see if you can’t find better deals on building a website. However, more complicated webpages such as those including java script will cost more due to the time and knowledge to create those type of San Antonio websites.

As more and more people search the net, your business’s SEO becomes vital to how much revenue streams in. Given the economy’s current struggle, search engine rank has become even more important. Many firms and boutique shops will tailor their web campaigns to drive in more business while downsizing overhead in their physical operations to cut cost. This is a sound strategy as maintaining an operable website creates a more efficient financial structure, reducing debits on the balance sheet. The focus on almost any search rank strategy is always on Google, but remember Yahoo and MSN still comprise a significant share of the market.

If you’re thinking about paying for submission into a link directly, you’ll want to think again. Link directories were largely popular in the late 90s and early turn of the century. As you can deduce from the name, link directories are a cumulation of links to different websites organized by niche. Truly junky directories are referred to as link farms. Many people bought links or submitted links to these farms in hopes of easily improving their SEO. Google has cracked down on this as it is seen as essentially buying your way to the top. Google wants sites that deservedly belong at the top, not sites that paid to be their. Some directories such as dmoz.org help in ranking, but submissions must also be approved by an editor and often take weeks to pass or fail.

Many website designers and seo websites quietly include a maintenance fee in their final prices, but what exactly does maintenance give you? Usually, the only benefit to you is your website is hosted on that person’s server. Typically, a server’s cost is about $10/month. Unless your website is extremely well trafficked, your server should cost no more than $15. Visit San Antonio SEO for a local company which does not charge continual fees to “maintain your website.”

One of the best things about the Internet is anyone compete for the top spots in the search engines – both small and big websites alike. With a good optimization strategy, you can outperform your larger competitors and take the lion’s share of the online market – more specifically web traffic and conversions. The online marketplace is up in the air, going to the website which can most effectively drive targeted traffic to their site.
Examples of smaller budget websites outperforming large corporations are prevalent and should provide you ample motivation to capitalize as the transition from tv, radio, and print continues. Success stories include solo practitioners competing with large law firms, online start up stores out ranking large established retailers, and other small vs. big successes. Keep in mind, search engines aren’t concerned with who you are, only the quality of your website for your targeted keywords.

Be on the lookout for web design companies that claim to “search engine optimize” your website while proferring catch phrases that may sound foreign or complex to you. Some will claim to optimize your meta tags or have Google analytics installed. Others will submit your websites to the top search engines “Google, Yahoo, and MSN.” This is all peripheral stuff. By that I mean, yes these are some things you can do that are related to SEO in a sense, but they really offer little in the way of moving your website up in the search engine rankings. Meta tags can be added to your website in a matter of seconds. That said, the usefulness of meta tags is considered very weak according to many SEO experts and certainly doesn’t contain anymore than 1% of your SEO juice. Submitting your website is something you can do in a matter of seconds as well. Just type in “submit my site” into your search engine of choice and fill in your URL and that’s done. Of course, you could always just wait and 9 times out of 10, it will happen naturally. Google Analytics is nothing more than a free traffic tracker that tells you how many visitors you get and where they came from. There is a little more to it, but that’s the essential relevance. This can be installed in 3-4 minutes if you have a Google account.
These items don’t get to the heart of SEO. If a website is coming out with these items right off the bat chances are they don’t know what the hell they are doing as far as search engine optimization goes and they only want to charge you more for doing a couple of minute operations.

As you can see from a quick Google search, there are many SEO companies to choose from. It is a good idea to contact several before making your choice. Price, ethics, and knowledge are three good reasons to do so. Take a sampling away from each and determine which website leaves you feeling the most at ease with your decision. Be on the lookout for “sure” guarantees and very quick turnarounds on search results. You should also know that some SEO methods can skyrocket your website in the beginning, but leave you banned later. Natural, organic rank through ethical SEO is the best way for your website to gain high search position.

Here are some helpful hints for SEO on your website: keep your design simple. This helps search engines plainly read what your website is about. Also, keep your website on a topic. Websites that talk about their intended purpose will rank better than those that lack a sense of direction. For example, if your website is about cars, keep the website about cars and auto related information rather than drifting off into talk about hams and other cured meats. Another tip is to avoid excessive website code such as html or php. While these things can help your website look better, they often come at a sacrifice in traffic.
